One of the best features you can add to your home is adding a bathroom fan into the ceiling of your bathroom. One of the worst aspects of a Vancouver home is a bathroom fan that has no outlet and blows moisture into the attic. Climbing into your attic should give you a idea of what situation your home is in. What you should see is a coiled pipe running from the fan to a outlet on the roof or just below the eave coming out the side of your home.

Bathroom's distribute the highest content of moisture in the home, second to the kitchen. When the bathroom fan sucks that moisture out of the home and into the attic some really big trouble begins for the home as a whole. The short term issue is the change of temperature in the Vancouver home with the house getting colder in the winter and warmer in the summer. This is a cost of extra energy usage you don't need.

The second issue is that the attic traps the moisture and in a warm, dark and wet location mould and rot occurs which spreads like a disease and is dangerous for your health and all others living in the home. This could also be a issue if your roof is not ventilated to building code or your home is designed in a way that make ventilation difficult and in some very few cases impossible.

Trapped moisture in the attic due to no working bathroom fan decreases the life of your roof drastically, making a proper connected and working bathroom fan will save the life of your roof. Extreme heat in the summer raises the temperature in the attic and with the high moisture the shingles literally cook. In winter ice forms in the attic and with major changes between seasons the roof never lasts the life of it's warranty
