My mother took me to the optometrist when I was 8 years old. I did not apprehend why I was there, or what this was all about.
The optometrist put this weird eye lens machine in front of my eyes and had me read the letters on the projection screen. The examination didn't take long and per week later I came back and also the optometrist gave me a try of eyeglasses to put on.
I didn't like them at all. My eyes and vision felt weird, disoriented, and constricted.
However I wore them home. Once, I never wore my eyeglasses, unless my mother told me at home. But, outside my home, faraway from my mother, I place the eyeglasses in the case in my pocket and never wore them.
I didn't would like eyeglasses. I could see everything perfectly without eyeglasses.
Maybe, I squinted a very little when I checked out the blackboard in college, however that was all. I did not like the eyeglasses, I didn't would like them, and I never wore them far from my mother. However soon when my teacher sent me to the varsity nurse and she or he told me to wear my eyeglasses all the time. I have worn eyeglasses ever since - each day all day for thirty and years.
I'm certain I failed to need eyeglasses within the beginning.

What was happening?

Most annoying, while not my eyeglasses, I could not see individuals's faces at all. I could see the human form pretty smart, however the face was a complete blank- sort of a hazy patch over the complete face.
I used to be utterly obsessed with my eyeglasses and my eyes were getting worse all the time.
One eye was getting a lot of weaker than the opposite eye.
I had night blindness.
I saw haloes and streaks around lights
I was deeply concerned with my deteriorating eyesight.
When I when to the optometrist everything was fine. He checked my eyes, gave me a stronger eyeglass prescription and sent me on my approach without saying much. The entire examination was worn out nearly total silence. The optometrist offered no clarification of what he was doing or why.
Everything was fine. The sun was shinning, the birds were singing as I used to be being led down the garden path towards blindness. One thing was wrong. I used to be going blind and also the optometrist wasn't involved in the least - unbelievable.
What sort of medical treatment is this? I am purported to be obtaining higher not worse.
The main downside is that optometrists believe that vision issues can't be prevented or healed. They believe that besides sporting eyeglasses, contact lenses, or laser surgery, nothing will be done to correct errors of focusing within the eye. They tell us, "You've got to wear eyeglasses for the rest of your life."
Optometrists don't have any vision loss prevention program. As your eyes deteriorate, they solely prescribe stronger eyeglass prescriptions and monitor the development of eye diseases, like cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration, whereupon they wash their hands of you and send you to the eye surgeon.
For traditional health issues, medical doctors prescribe: exercise, eat right, watch your weight, avoid stress, don't smoke, limit your alcohol, get eight hours sleep, various physical therapies, and a healthy lifestyle. These are good for your eyes too. Medical doctors recognize that the body can heal itself. Our eyes can heal themselves, just like the rest of our body.
