Protecting the skin from UV rays is an essential factor in the amount of aging your skin is going to show in your later years. The sun is harming the skin. In case you look at places where the sun never touches your body, such as your behind, you will likely realize how much the sun affects your skin on the other parts. Those who spend a lot of time in the sun without protection for their skin will be in danger not only of wrinkled skin but also developing other health problems. Skin cancer is actually the leading reason for cancer in young people.

Many young people are developing this type of cancer because of long hours spent in the sun or in tanning booths. Even though the sun feels great on your skin and makes you feel good, it can wreck havoc on your skin cells. While you tan, damage is done to the skin cells. The reason behind a tan color is melanin which comes to the top of the skin to protect it from damage done by UV rays. UV rays may change the way our cells grow. They can begin to grow abnormally and produce cells that damage the skin around them. When this happens, it becomes cancer.

There are many types of skin cancer and the most harmful is Melanoma. Melanoma may spread to other parts of the body and lead to cancers in other vital organs. Other kinds of skin cancers, although it is not as dangerous, can also cause problem when they are removed.

Protecting skin from UV rays will be as easy as applying sunscreen every single day. Sunscreen really should be used on a regular basis on parts of the body that are exposed to the sun. If you are involved in activities that cause sweating or if you're swimming, sunscreen needs to be applied several times a day. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 25. There are now many products on the market that have moisturizers contained in this protective item as well.

Hats must be worn if you're planning to spend a lot of time in the sun. Sunglasses are usually important as the UV rays may damage your eyes and so are the main cause for developing cataracts later in life. Children are especially susceptible to the sun and care should be observed to protect their eyes and skin. Spending time in the sun can create special memories; however, the proper protection from the sun should be practiced.
