Early Domain Parking Pages

Domain parking pages have really evolved over the last few years as the art of the Domainer became more prevalent. The initial domain parking pages used to consist of a few static links and little else, with debatable relevance to the website being parked. Those of you who remember the early days of the internet will remember that websites generally were also fairly staid – due, in the main, to the technology available at the time. Gradually, web pages became more dynamic and, for similar reasons, so did the domain parking pages. There is more user involvement and relevance in the domain parking pages of 2008 onwards, with video clips, photos and a range of content from around the world. Domain parking pages nowadays can be edited and even customised to become more closely relevant to the kinds of visitors you hope to attract.

Dynamic Element

The more relevant the content is to the generics of your site encourages a more targeted audience which, in turn, increases the resale significance of your domain name. It is worth remembering that the name of the game is ‘direct navigation networks’ when you are considering the kind of domain parking pages you want your domain name to be associated with. If you are building up a domain portfolio, picking the kind of domain parking pages that are going to maximise the resale value of your website is going to be far more cost effective in the long run. There are plenty of sites online to choose from but, before you decide, look closely at the domain parking scripts they are using: it will be to your benefit!

A Dynamic Process

The very act of domain parking is dynamic in itself: it is a process involving the choice of a domain name, registering it and then parking it – and it doesn’t stop there. Certainly, if you do have a really good domain name in your head, you would be advised to register it immediately – because you can guarantee that, if you have thought of it, so somebody else will have done. Even if you don’t use it, get the name registered. This is really where domain parking pages come in. Until you are ready to start working on your website, get your domain name parked so that the name has been registered to you, as the owner, and you can even start making money from the domain parking pages you have decided on.

The domain registrar invariably parks your registered domain onto their server. In other words, if you type in your domain name URL, you will arrive at a web page: this shows the world that this particular domain name has been taken. Often, the default page will show up with a series of advertisements on it. This is what your domain name is likely to look like with domain parking. When a visitor clicks on one of those links associated with the advertisements show on the default web page, you – as the domain name owner – will get paid a sum of money for each click received: nice little earner if you can manage it!
